Assistant Tutoring Coordinator: Emily Stinson
Emily began working in her position in November 2010. She came to the PIER freshly graduated from Colorado State University, where she earned her Masters degree in English; her undergraduate degrees are from Indiana University in English and History. Emily fell in love with tutoring during grad school while she worked as a writing center consultant in Colorado State University’s writing center. Emily also teaches Composition classes as an English Adjunct for NOVA.
PIER Tutors are current or former students of Northern Virginia Community College that have succeeded in their courses, have a strong desire to help others, and display an ability to communicate complicated concepts to students.
All tutors have completed an application process, been interviewed, hired, and trained by PIER administrators.
