Excellence in Learning

This scholarship was formerly the Reva A. Savkar Excellence In Learning Scholarship, which provided an award of $1000 to one student each year. Recipients had to be program-placed in a science-related curriculum, as part of an AS in Science degree program at NOVA, and had to have have completed at least one semester in his/her science-related curriculum. Students must have had a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better and must have completed CHM 111 (or equivalent), and have been currently enrolled in or have completed CHM 112 (or equivalent). Preference was given to students in Chemistry or Chemistry-related curriculum.NOVA Professor Emerita Reva A. Savkar, winner of the 2013 VCCS Chancellor’s Award for Teaching Excellence, established this scholarship to recognize that there can be no excellence in teaching without excellence in learning by students. She wished to honor students who best exemplify commitment to outstanding learning.
