Roman Rabinovich will give a pre-concert lecture from 1:15-1:45 p.m.

This conductorless concert will highlight great works by composers at both the beginning and ending of their musical journeys. Washingtonian Alistair Coleman is a young composer at the beginning of a promising career. Meanwhile, Grieg’s String Quartet No. 1 was his first and final string quartet, but is full of style and texture, almost like a symphony, and Beethoven’s Emperor piano concerto was his final work for piano and his most musically evolved. To perform the virtuosic work, guest piano soloist Roman Rabinovich will join the orchestra for this special program.
