Register now to join Esri and GovLoop on Thursday, January 17 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the District Architecture Center, 421 7th Street NW Washington, D.C. 20004, for refreshments; a chance to connect with GIS and developer professionals from throughout the Washington, D.C. metro area; and an opportunity to learn the use of GIS in the Cloud.

 On one spectrum the federal government has found new and innovative ways of using GIS in the cloud from Hurricane Sandy to collaborating with other agencies. On the other end, the development community is rapidly building new applications that support these services. Come learn about Esri’s cloud platform for government, civic engagement and the business case for developing on top of it.

6:00 – 6:20 Going Open Source with EsriHear Andrew Turner from Esri’s DC Development Center discuss the business case for developing on top of Esri’s cloud GIS platform including open source development and social coding for web mapping.
6:20 – 6:40 What is ArcGIS Online- The Esri Cloud Solution and What’s New?Hear about ArcGIS Online’s December 2012 release and its latest capabilities.
6:40 – 7:00 Social CodingLearn about how to use social coding sites like GitHub to get more done and contribute to the geo-developer community.
7:00 – 8:00 Networking Reception Mix and mingle a little longer with fellow D.C. metro area GIS and developer professionals while enjoying complimentary hors d’oeuvres and beverages.
