Cyber Security Opportunity at Woodbridge Campus

Year Up’s Professional Training Corps (PTC) is an intensive, one-year program for students that combine hands-on skill development and internships at some of America’s top companies. As you work towards completing your degree at the Woodbridge Campus of Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA), we support you in launching a career in Information Technology or Cyber Security. 85% of our graduates are employed and/or attending college full-time within four months of graduation and earn an average of $30,000 a year.

Am I Eligible?

You can apply to be a Year Up student if you are:

18-24 years old

High school graduate or GED recipient

U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or have an employmentauthorization card

Enrolled or interested in enrolling full-time at NOVA

Interested in a career in Information Technology or Cyber Security

Highly motivated to learn professional skills

Low income, financial aid eligible

What Does It Cost?

There is no cost to participate in the Year Up PTC program.*

The only investment we require is your time and commitment to success. In fact, Year Up students receive a stipend throughout the life of the program. Because we believe that everyone has the potential to succeed, that’s our investment in you.

*As full-time NOVA students, you are expected to cover the cost of your college tuition through a combination of grants and scholarships; Year Up PTC and NOVA will support you with making connections to resources.

When Do Classes Start?

Classes begin in August 2015. Applications are considered on a rolling basis until the class is filled. We encourage you to apply  early as space is limited.

How Do I Begin?

Step One

Submit an Interest Form. Take five minutes to let us know you’re interested in applying. You can find it online at

Attend an Information Session.  E-mail to contact an admissions representative to discuss your interest in the program.

Step Three

Begin an application. Find it at or pick up a copy from our office.

Step Four

Register as a full-time student at NOVA, if you are not registered already, and ensure that your major and degree

requirements are aligned with the requirements of the Year Up PTC program.
