USGIF GEOINT Community Week 2015

Small Satellite Workshop
Monday, November 16, 2015 – NGA’s NCE, Springfield, VA
USGIF is excited to announce that it is hosting a Small Satellite Workshop as the opening event for this year’s GEOINT Community Week. The day-long agenda will include keynotes and panels from top leaders in government and industry as well as a number of displays, demonstrations, and learning opportunities from subject matter experts and industry innovators.  Advances in sensors, processing, communications, miniaturization, and manufacturing have fueled remarkable growth in the development of small satellites. Once the purview of universities and laboratories, small satellites are proving value to the commercial sector with some forecasts calling for hundreds of small satellites by the end of this decade. Meanwhile NASA, the military, and the Intelligence Community are examining smaller, low cost, and rapidly delivered satellites as a way to conduct both primary and supplementary missions in support of both national and tactical needs. NGA leadership sees the use of small satellites as a key aspect of the agency’s future.  If you are currently working with small satellites in any capacity, this is the event for you! Join industry leaders and sign up for either a classified or unclassified exhibit space. Branding opportunities are available and serve as a great way to be viewed as a leader in the small satellite market. Please note, USGIF is considering hosting a classified portion to this event on Tuesday, November 17. If USGIF decides to do so, any organization exhibiting on Monday, November 16, 2015 will be able to exhibit on Tuesday, November 17, 2015 on a complimentary basis.

ASPRS GeoTech Conference 23-24 Sept GMU

FROM ASPRS:

The Potomac Region of the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ASPRS) is calling for student posters to present at this year’s GeoTech Conference. GeoTech is a two-day technical conference for geographers, image scientists, and engineers that is hosted by the American Society of Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing. The focus of the conference this year is Unmanned Aerial Vehicles or UAVs.

We are looking for students of all academic levels to contribute their ideas in the spatial sciences in regards to the engineering, data processing, or applications of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles. This is a great opportunity for students interested in learning more about UAVs and spatial technologies as students are given full access to the conference to meet with other students and professionals.

This year, GeoTech will be hosted at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, on September 23 and 24, 2015, and will feature a large student presence from many universities in the Potomac/Mid-Atlantic region.
