Faculty, staff and students may borrow library materials that circulate from any of the six campus libraries. Your NOVA Card ID and/or Employee ID is required for borrowing materials from the library and for all photocopying and printing.
Community users and consortium members have limited checkout privileges. Photo ID is required to obtain a NOVA Community User Card available at the Circulation Desk.
NOVA Library users may checkout books, periodicals, and audio-visuals from the library. Reference material cannot be checked out and are provided for library use only.
General Borrowing Policies:
- 3 Books (per subject matter): 3 weeks
- 5 Magazines: 1 week
- 3 Audiovisuals: 3 weeks (Effective 10/5/16)
- 10 item limit.
Reserve items are located behind the Circulation Desk. These may be textbooks, supplementary readings, audiovisuals, or class notes made available for student use by faculty are for library use only. Headsets and TI-83/TI-84 calculators are also available. You must provide your NOVA Card ID in order to check out reserve items. All electronic reserve items have a $4.00/day overdue fee (Effective May 19, 2014).
The renewal period for books is three weeks and limited to one renewal. The renewal period for audiovisuals is one week and limited to one renewal. Renewals can be done in person, by phone or electronically; provided that the item is not overdue. To renew an item electronically, access the library catalog, click on My Account at the top of the page and log-in using your myNOVA username and password. If another patron has requested a book or other item, a hold is placed on the item and it cannot be renewed.
Library users are responsible for paying all overdue fines accrued. Payment can be made by cash or check at the Circulation Desk.
Lost or Damaged Library Materials :
Library users are responsible for the replacement of lost or damaged library materials. The replacement fees are determined by library staff. These fees are in addition to any overdue fines already owed on some materials. Payment can be made by cash or check at the Circulation Desk.
Holds on Students Records:
If you are delinquent in returning library materials, paying any overdue fees or replacing any lost or damaged library materials you will have a “hold” placed on your records (go to NOVAConnect at www.nvcc.edu/novaconnect for details). During this time, you will not be permitted to enroll, no academic transcripts will be issued, no recommendations will be written, and no other services will be provided.
