Workforce Development Division Offers Continuity Areas of Business Course

NOVA’s Workforce Development Division is offering a new course, led by a professional in the Continuity Support Program Office, Department of Homeland Security.  The course is designed to help managers and security professionals within your organization know how to respond and recover from a natural or manmade crisis, this course will outline four basic continuity areas – Continuity of Operations (COOP), Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP), Information Assurance (IA) and Counterintelligence and Risk Management (CI/RM), and explain how to implement each of them into your business planning. Learn how to integrate these continuity areas into your business planning and implement them when necessary.

LPN Program Has 1st Ever Pinning Ceremony

 Healthcare is one of the fastest growing career fields in Northern Virginia.  The Workforce Development Division is doing its part in training workers to meet this growing demand.  The Workforce Development Division on Friday August 17 hosted their first ever Practical Nursing Pinning Ceremony.  This intense one year program graduated 15 new nurses, which are all eager to start making a difference in the lives of their patients.  The LPN program has received positive reviews from students thanks to the quality instruction and personal attention received from dedicated faculty and staff.  The Workforce Development Division is even more excited about the incoming LPN class as it is larger than the previous class.

On March 6, 2012 NOVA’s Workforce Development Division sponsored the Alexandria Chamber of Commerce Networking Breakfast held at the Tempo Restaurant.   Nearly 60 businesses from Northern Virginia were represented at the event.  Dr. Ron Beckwith, Lead of the Workforce Development Division’s Business Development Sector gave a short talk describing the services we offer and how they can benefit Alexandria area businesses.  The information was well received and several businesses expressed interest in working with NOVA’s Workforce Development Division on future projects.
