On March 1, representatives from the Woodbridge Campus and Workforce Development attended Government Contractors Industry Day sponsored by the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. The event titled “The New Economy: Strategy and Tactics for Success” focused on the changing environment of available government contracts.
The day started with a color guard ceremony by the Stonewall Jackson High School Air Force ROTC and continued with keynote speeches by industry leaders including National Contract Management Association President Elliot Branch and Brigidier General Frank Kelley.
Workshops focused on key areas such as creating persuasive proposals, the federal 2013 budget and understanding FAR (federal acquisition regulation).
Workforce Development was represented by Michael Cornecelli, and Woodbridge was represented by IT Professor Ken Shade and Campus and Community Relations Specialist Heather Witmer. The event was a great opportunity to learn more about the contracting industry as well as inform businesses of the Contract Management Program at NOVA.
