Essay Prompt 

Some scientific ideas have the potential to overturn paradigms and change the way human beings think about their world and how they operate in it–think of the discovery of DNA, Plate Tectonics, or Darwin’s Theory of Evolution and how these ideas transformed human life around the world. We live in an age of dynamic and unprecedented discovery of new knowledge, some of which is certain to dramatically change the world as we know it. What new discovery or idea do you think has transformational potential today? What positive change do you predict will happen to the world because of it?

Write a researched essay of 750-1000 words that explains the transformational scientific or technological idea (theory, claim) that you believe will happen and then explain how the world will change for the better because of it.

Deadline

Submissions must be received by Thursday, March 31, 2022.

Prizes

• $100 for First Place
• $75 for Second Place
• $50 for Third Place

Those quality submissions that do not get selected for prizes may still be published!

Requirements

• 750-1000 words (3-4 pages)
• Incorporate credible and timely research
• Conform to the most recent MLA guide or APA guidelines
• Faculty sponsorship (link to Faculty Sponsor form below)
