Dr. Kress’ Monday Message
Welcome to the Daily Flyer, NOVA’s new daily newsletter!
The Daily Flyer, as the dual meaning of its name suggests, is a one sheet overview of NOVA “news you can use” and news you can read quickly. To be sure, it will offer just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to all that is happening at our outstanding, diverse, complex, and very busy college, but the goal isn’t to share everything—it’s to communicate the few key points each day that should be shared across our campuses so that we’re all in the loop.
Please know that the Flyer is yours: you submit stories for consideration using the link in the newsletter. Ideas that seem more suited for a long form presentation might end up in other NOVA publications, and those that are one-campus specific will be shared with the Provosts for their own communications.
On Mondays, part of the Flyer will be mine. I’ll be posting a weekly message addressing topics of interest, answering questions, and even dispelling an occasional rumor. This week, I’m using this space to ask for your input.
As I mentioned at Convocation, I’ve heard your interest in re-evaluating the most recent reorganization. Some of you have already sent in your thoughts on this topic, and I thank you. But, I also want to make sure that everyone has a chance to have their voice heard. So, at this link, you’ll find a survey asking several questions about both the past organizational structure and the most recent one–with a bonus question about improving communication at NOVA. The survey is anonymous and will be open from Jan 13 to 31. I hope that you will take a few minutes to respond. As I’ve said before, I want to hear what’s working, what could work better, and what needs work: this survey gets at all three.
Finally, on a personal note, thank you! I am beyond grateful to everyone at NOVA for being so welcoming, gracious, generous, and open throughout my first week. Because of you, NOVA shines boldly and brightly, and I am honored to be a part of this extraordinary community!
All the best,
Anne
