The Monday Message: Subcommittee Formed to Review Your QEP Ideas

February 3, 2020 / Uncategorized

Over the next 18 months, you will see more and more information about our SACSCOC accreditation reaffirmation in the NOVA Daily, and this is the first. During the Fall Semester, you were asked to submit proposals for consideration for our Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP).

The team received 14 proposals:
• Academic Coaching for First-Semester and Non-Traditional Learners
• Accessibility Model for Inclusion and Student Success
• Citizenship Across the Curriculum
• Early Alert
• Early, Often, and Everywhere (Library Instruction to Improve Critical Thinking)
• Gateway to Success: Improving Student Outcomes in Foundation Courses
• Information Literacy
• Learning Commons Cafés: Creating Collaborative & Comprehensive Academic Support Centers
• Library Reserve Textbook Acquisition Process
• NOVA Thrives (Student Advocacy Center)
• Serving the Under-Served: Achieving Access, Success, and Equity at NOVA
• Student Responsibility and Preparedness
• Student Success for Second Year and Students
• Writing across College, Career, and Community

Thank you to all who submitted proposals and thought about how NOVA can enhance our services and programs. The list is fairly diverse and reflects various perspectives on how we can improve our students’ success.

You’ve spent time on these proposals, and we want to honor your work. We also need to assure that NOVA’s QEP meets current SACSCOC expectations (e.g., that is has a clear link to the College’s strategic plan). So, a sub-committee of the SACSCOC Steering Committee is reviewing these proposals, identifying major themes, and assuring connection to our strategic plan, mission, and values. The sub-committee’s work will be completed later this month and shared with you.

For more information about the QEP process, please visit the QEP website. Questions can be submitted to QEP@nvcc.edu

All the best,

Anne
