Alexandria Campus Adds New Black History Month Events

In addition to the events posted previously, NOVA AL Campus would like to announce a few newly added ones to the lineup:

“African American Women and Voting Rights”
Friday, February 21, Jean Braden Center, 10:00 – 11:00 am
Location: AA 331
Presenter: Professor Susan Monroe
In recognition of Black History Month, and in alignment to ASALH’s theme this year, “African Americans and the Vote’, Professor Monroe will speak on African American Women and the history of their voting rights.

“94th Annual Black History Luncheon and Author’s Book Signing”
Saturday, February 22, Jean Braden Center, 10:00am – 2:00 pm
Location: Renaissance Hotel, Washington, DC

“Gabriel’s Revolt” Docudrama

Showings scheduled for 12:00, 2:30 and 6:00 pm
Coordinator: Noemi Rosado-roman

In recognition of Black History Month, a docudrama produced by and featuring Joseph Windham, Jimmie McClellan, Nick Gaffney, and Sah Ara Sanu-t focuses on Gabriel, a literate slave in Virginia in 1800 who led a revolt targeting Federalists and prominent merchants.
