CyCON 3.0 Draws Large Crowd with Shared Love for Cybersecurity

On February 15th, the third annual CyCON event at the Loudoun Campus drew the largest crowd ever, with over 225 attendees showing their Valentine’s Day love for cybsersecurity. CyCON brings academia, industry, and government together to connect, share, and learn about the hottest topics and trends in cybersecurity.

Michael Torres, IET adjunct faculty and Senior Solutions Architect at Serco, emceed the conference which included sessions on artificial intelligence, deep learning, cloud, digital identify, cyberwarfare, digital payments, mobile, dashboarding, and cyber competency. This year’s keynote speaker was Dave White, Strategic Advisor and Principal Systems Engineer at Parsons Corporation, who presented on Sex, Spies, and Fast Cars: Adventures with SmartPhones.

Attendees were also able to interact with representatives from regional and student chapters of ISACA (Information Systems Audit and Control Association) and ISSA DC (Information Systems Security Association). The event was organized by Babur Kohy, IET adjunct faculty and founder of CyTalks.com, with support from Laura Siko, Director of Enrollment Management, Loudoun Campus. Special thanks to Loudoun Provost Dr. Julie Leidig, IET Provost Dr. Chad Knights, and the team at NOVA Systemic for their continued support of this very important professional development opportunity.
