Black History and Healthy Heart Month at MEC
Monday, Feb 24th
A History of African American Contributions in Medicine Slide Show (Matching Game Challenge and PRIZES) from12-1pm in the MEC Forum. Come test your knowledge and learn new facts about the many contributions African Americans have made to the health field. MEC will also broadcast a slide show, and host a matching game challenge too. This event is being sponsored and facilitated by, Student Life, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee, and Community Outreach, on the MEC campus.

Tuesday, Feb 25th
TEDMED Viewing and Panel Discussion: Race Based Medicine 11a-12p, MEC Forum.
Join MEC in the viewing of TEDMED speaker Dorothy Roberts’ talk on the myths of race-based medicine. Roberts’ is a Professor of Africana Studies, and Law & Sociology at the University of Pennsylvania, she is also a recognized international scholar, and social justice advocate. She authored the award winning books, “Killing the Black Body” and “Shattered Bonds”. After the viewing, there will be a panel discussion with members of the MEC faculty, staff and students. This event is being sponsored and facilitated by, Student Life, the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion committee, and Community Outreach, on the MEC campus.

Know your numbers! Health Screenings: Glucose and Blood Pressure, 11:30a-1pm on the first floor.

Thursday, Feb 27th
Field Trip- National Museum of African American History and Culture (19 Tickets available- sign up in the Student Life Office, MEC 116)
