The Northern Virginia Review Launch Celebration – March 26

February 28, 2020 / Events

NOVA faculty and staff are invited to join the launch celebration for Volume 34 of The Northern Virginia Review (TNVR). Editor-in-chief Ruth Stewart (Manassas English professor) will present awards for best poetry and art as well as the second annual Robert Bausch Memorial Prize in fiction, honoring the late NOVA Woodbridge English professor and prolific author.

This year’s keynote speaker will be Rion Amilcar Scott, author of the award-winning book Insurrections (2016) and numerous pieces in The New Yorker, The Kenyon Review, Crab Orchard Review, and The Rumpus, among other publications. He earned an M.F.A. from George Mason University and presently teaches creative writing at the University of Maryland.

Rion Amilcar Scott will read from his most recent book, The World Doesn’t Require You (Norton/Liveright, 2019). Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase this book and have it signed by the author. Refreshments will be served.

The Northern Virginia Review is an annual publication of poetry, short stories, fine art, and creative nonfiction. Contributors include NOVA faculty, staff, and alumni, as well as artists and writers from Northern Virginia and the greater mid-Atlantic region.
