Message from The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFA)
The National Association of Student Financial Aid Administrators (NASFA) sent the following message to its members. NOVA is a long-time member of this professional association that serves the vast majority of colleges across the country.
“During this time of uncertainty, it is easy to misinterpret guidance and take actions that may not be reversible. Despite the Senate passing a large stimulus bill that, in part, addresses student aid, the Title IV implications of #COVID-19 are not yet fully known, and questions regarding the implementation of new flexibilities remain unanswered. NASFAA is closely monitoring issues in the financial aid community as they arise, as well as requesting more guidance from the U.S. Department of Education and more flexibility from both ED and Congress — and both entities have signaled a strong desire to help students as much as possible. Meanwhile, we urge members to take pause before making changes to student financial aid packages and/or components that could inadvertently cause harm unless you are certain the action is required.”
That said, NOVA Financial Aid will act to accommodate students as soon as regulations and procedures are clarified. We will provide updates as we receive more information.
