Wear Jeans on Denim Day, April 29
Denim Day was created in response to a ruling by the Italian Supreme Court where a rape conviction was overturned because the justices felt that since the victim was wearing tight jeans, she must have consented. The following day the women in the Italian Parliament came to work wearing jeans in solidarity with the victim. Wearing jeans during this annual event has become a symbol of protest against destructive attitudes about sexual assault. Wear your jeans, along with millions around the world, and send your photo to the Sexual Assault Services office at NOVA.SAS@nvcc.edu to show your support!
