NOVA Business Faculty Selected to Facilitate Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge
Thanks to the efforts of Miguel Corrigan, associate professor of business, finance and marketing at NOVA-Loudoun, Northern Virginia Community College is one of 20 academic institutions selected to participate in fall 2020 in the Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge, a program supported by the Stevens Initiative, which is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, administered by the Aspen Institute and implemented by IREX.
The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge (GSSC) connects students in the United States, Jordan and Iraq to collaborate virtually on a sustainable solution to a contemporary business challenge. Bi-national teams engage during a six- to ten-week period to create a sustainable business solution to a challenge identified by industry partners across business sectors. Throughout the challenge, participants will develop workforce skills, network with industry professionals and participate in a virtual career fair. At the conclusion of GSSC, bi-national teams will submit a video pitch and business plan for their prototype to the Virtual Global Business Expo where the top three finalists will be selected by an advisory committee comprised of industry professionals and educators.
Professor Corrigan, himself a Fulbright Scholar several times over, has a passion for the enhancement of cultural literacy to augment business success. The Global Solutions Sustainability Challenge is the perfect platform to realize this passion.
If you are a NOVA faculty member interested in joining Professor Corrigan in facilitating a group of students in fall 2020, please submit your application by May 31, 2020.
