NOVACares Highlights On-Demand Webinars on Race

June 4, 2020 / HR News/Training

NOVACares wants to acknowledge that during this difficult time, you may experience uncertainty about what to do for yourself or others while experiencing, observing and processing racial issues. One particularly pressing issue on the minds of many is regarding privilege. Recognizing that these conversations with yourself and others can prove uncomfortable and difficult, allow yourself the space and time to sit with your feelings and hear others on theirs in support of the common goal of real progress.

Seeking and succeeding in solidarity requires us to focus on the traits and experiences that highlight commonalities among us instead of solely focusing on what makes us different and treating those differences as negatives or deficiencies. Appreciation of those differences will also serve to connect us if we allow the space to appreciate individual and cultural uniqueness.

Now is a great time to engage in self-evaluation about personal and implicit biases. Prioritize educating yourself on white privilege and black history related to systemic inequality. To help move the conversation forward with yourself and other members of your community, below are some on-demand webinar resources for viewing at your convenience. Also review the NOVACares blog post, Moving From Racism and Discrimination to Healing and Inclusion, and consider sharing these and what you learn in a respectful, open and empathetic manner.
