Online Teaching Resources Available at NOVA Libraries

June 18, 2020 / General NOVA News

If you’re ready to level up your online teaching and learning skills, the library has resources that you can use in your online classes and for your professional development.

A recent Chronicle of Higher Education article, “How I’m Spending My Pandemic Summer Vacation,” highlighted several books on the topic of online teaching, many of which we have available in our library catalog as eBooks. Titles include Small Teaching Online: Applying Learning Science in Online Classes by Flower Darby and Minds Online: Teaching Effectively With Technology by Michelle D. Miller. If you’d like to recommend a book or another resource about online teaching, the campus libraries are happy to consider purchase suggestions. (https://www.nvcc.edu/library/suggest.html)

Did you know that NOVA Libraries subscribes to the Chronicle of Higher Education? You can access it Here or by going to https://www.nvcc.edu/library and clicking on the Chronicle of Higher Education link under For Faculty. From off-campus, you’ll need to log in with your myNOVA username and password.

You can add online resources from the library into your Canvas course. The Canvas Help & Teaching Resources guide has instructions for adding materials such as eBooks, journal articles, research guides and videos to your course. You can request a librarian for your course or learn how librarians can support your efforts to find, evaluate and use OER materials in your teaching. See the Canvas Help & Teaching Resources guide or contact a librarian for more information.
