Join Prof. Tucker as she discusses the development of a Southern culture, the dimensions of 19th century slavery, and the growth of the domestic slave trade while making connections between the past and today. Prof. Alicia L.B. Tucker teaches history at NOVA-Manassas. She holds a master’s degree in Early American History.
Species Interactions
Thursday, August 6, 12:00 p.m.
Learn the various ways by which species interact with each other including feeding relationships that give rise to food webs. Plus, learn how you can identify some indicator species in a natural environment near you. Dr. Shabana Meyering teaches biology and environmental science at NOVA-Woodbridge. She holds a doctoral degree in Biochemistry.
A Life Well Lived: How Human Development Shapes Happiness
Thursday, August 6, 1:00 p.m.
Join Dr. Hafen as he discusses theories that help us understand how to live a healthy and happy life. Learn how common human experiences shape our perspective and how connection to others, autonomy, and competence all play a key role in the human condition. Dr. Christopher Hafen teaches psychology at NOVA-Manassas. He holds a doctoral degree in Developmental Psychology.
