College Registrar, Alethea Hamilton, Retires After 15 Years Serving Nighthawks

Alethea Hamilton will retire from her role as NOVA’s College Registrar on July 31, 2020. Alethea joined NOVA in 2005, and during her tenure at NOVA, 72,602 degrees were awarded to students.

Alethea began her career in higher education in 1969 as a work-study student in the dean of students’ office at Prairie View A&M University in Prairie View, Texas. She then served as a financial aid counselor at Prairie View A&M and as a site director at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington, D.C. while at Old Dominion University. Her professional career includes teaching music at the elementary, middle and high school levels. She also taught music education at City Colleges of Chicago.

Alethea earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees in Music Education from Prairie View A&M University where she met her husband of 48 years. As an Army spouse, she traveled across the United States and Europe.
