Campus Climate Survey to Begin Sept. 8
NOVA will begin a college-wide diversity climate study on Sept. 8. We have contracted with Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys, LLC, to administer the surveys. Understanding our college climate is an important step toward ensuring NOVA is fulfilling its equity mission, and we are supporting our students and employees. The results of this survey will provide a baseline for our community—showing us both where we are succeeding and where we have room to improve.
This year, NOVA will focus on equity, excellence, empathy, evidence, and economic and social mobility. Our participation in the campus climate survey supports and grounds all five of these, helping us to build a culture of inclusive excellence by providing data that will drive action to strengthen our college. At NOVA, our success depends upon the success of our richly diverse community of students, faculty, staff and administrators. The climate survey seeks the input of each group so that all voices are included and respected.
The structural inequity that impacts the lives of our students and our employees does not stop at NOVA’s front door: it impacts life at our college, too. The survey results will be used to identify strengths and opportunities related to diversity, equity and inclusion at NOVA, so we encourage you to share your perspective. Our future success relies equally on celebrating our achievements and addressing our challenges.
We have selected Viewfinder Campus Climate Surveys to ensure that your responses remain anonymous. No personal identifying information will be collected from you. You will be receiving a letter directly from Campus Climate Surveys, LLC, inviting you to participate in the survey. The survey will be online and will be accessible for those who need accommodations.
If you have any questions, please contact Vice President George Gabriel (ggabriel@nvcc.edu), whose department is providing oversight for the survey.
Again, thank you in advance for your participation and for your commitment to NOVA!
