Updates from Academic Affairs

September 28, 2020 / General NOVA News

As a reminder, the Office of Academic Affairs would like to make you aware of a couple of resources that are available to assist you as you work with and advise students.

Monthly newsletter
Since April, we have been publishing a monthly newsletter to provide an update on the information and activities managed by our office. This is a great way to keep up with the fast pace of academic changes. To receive our newsletter, subscribe to our Canvas Site. Once you accept enrollment, we recommend that you turn on notifications to be informed when we add information to this site. The September edition of our newsletter will be available this week.

Academics@nvcc.edu
People often have questions related to Academic Affairs and sometimes don’t know whom to ask for answers. While you should always start with your supervisor, as he/she often receives informational updates, you may email academics@nvcc.edu when you still need assistance and do not know whom to ask. Be advised, this email is for faculty and staff only and should not be given to students. If preferred, you may still contact our individual staff.

Academics@nvcc.edu may be used for inquiries regarding the following topics. Your question will be routed accordingly:
• Transfer questions (including pathways)
• ADVANCE
• SIS advising reports
• Curriculum questions (including course prerequisites, course content summaries, general education)
• College Catalog
• Credit for Prior Learning
• Submission of discipline group and pathway council minutes
• Compliance and SACS questions
• Updates for Forms that begin with the number ‘125’
• Curriculum Committee questions and proposal submissions

Remember that we are here to support you as you support our students. If you have any questions or feedback on how we can support you better, feel free to contact us at academics@nvcc.edu.
