Ramunda Young is busy. She’s a wife. She’s a mom. She’s a vice chair of the Prince William Chamber of Commerce. She works full time at NOVA. She owns her own business. She’s.just.busy. Honestly, she seems happy to just go from Zoom to Zoom helping to innovate solutions, building up her staff and putting out fires. But it’s about time her hard work is recognized.

This month, the Washington Business Journal named Young, NOVA’s acting director of communications, as an honoree for its 2020 Women Who Mean Business awards program. She was one of 25 local businesswomen who received the honor, from among 250 nominations. Honorees are selected by a panel of Women Who Mean Business alumni and WBJ staff. They are chosen based on their records of community service, leadership skills and continuing success in their fields. Other 2020 honorees include D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser; Eileen Ellsworth, president and CEO of Community Foundation for Northern Virginia; Monica Goldson, CEO of Prince George’s County Schools; Radha Muthia, CEO of the Capital Area Food Bank and many other women whose lives define service to their communities.

Young owns her bookstore with her husband Derrick and their teen daughter. The store was intended to meet the needs of readers nationwide who are in search of books written for, by or about people of the African Diaspora.

In addition to NOVA she is active in her community.  She is proudly serving her second stint as Vice Chair of the Prince William County Human Rights Commission where she was named Commissioner of the Year.

Please join us in congratulating Ramunda on this great recognition! To read the full article on the Washington Business Journal’s 2020 Women Who Mean Business, click Here
