Responding to the Pandemic for #RealCollege Students

Last year, NOVA participated in the #RealCollege survey, designed by the Hope Center for College, Community, and Justice, in an effort to better understand our students’ needs outside of the classroom. The results were telling. 39% of our students reported experiencing housing insecurity during the year that preceded the survey.

This year, NOVA and the entire Virginia Community College System are participating in the #RealCollege survey. Given the current pandemic and its effect on the economy, it is even more important to ensure we get as many responses as possible. All NOVA students were emailed an invitation to participate in the survey on Tuesday, Sept. 22.  Please share this invitation with them again in your classes and emphasize the importance of sharing their stories so we can provide appropriate supports to help them succeed.
