Chancellor’s Faculty Advisory Committee Topics Sought

September 30, 2020 / General NOVA News

The Chancellor’s Faculty Advisory Committee (CFAC) is the voice for the over 2,200 full-time faculty at Virginia’s twenty-three community colleges. Each college, regardless of size, has one representative and the committee meets for a two-day conference with the Chancellor and his staff each semester. In the past few years, CFAC has recommended proposals that became VCCS policy that benefited both junior faculty, parental leave and for our more senior colleagues, phased retirement.

Dr. Charles Errico is NOVA’s representative and also chairs the CFAC. Please email Charlie (cerrico@nvcc.edu) if you have issues that you wish him to place on the agenda for the November meeting. CFAC deals with only system-wide, rather than local college concerns. For example, in November, the committee plans to discuss with the Chancellor a recommendation to allow tuition free courses for the dependents of faculty and staff.
