OWMH: Helping You Help Students in Crisis, Support for VSS

November 20, 2020 / General NOVA News

The mission of the Office of Wellness and Mental Health is to provide assistance, resources, support and intervention for members of the NOVA community in order to positively affect emotional development, to develop healthy social skills and to enhance academic success focusing on the individual as a whole: mind, body and spirit.

New reference guides will help you when working with a student in crisis. These resource sheets provide a protocol to follow when working with these students plus an explanation of the four types of reports available:

  • “Academic Integrity Violations”
  • “Violations of the Student Code of Conduct”
  • “Title IX”
  • “Care Team Referrals/Student Needing Assistance” (previously NOVACares reports).

These resources are available in the Virtual Advising Google Drive.
