Precautions, Reminders for the Break and Beyond
As we approach the winter holiday break, please recall the following guidance from the CDC that applies to any student or employee who regularly comes to a NOVA campus or office:
If you are spending any part of the holidays in gatherings or travel (e.g., flights) with individuals who are not in your daily and/or immediate family circle and you do not strictly follow social distancing/masking requirements, please self-isolate for 14 days after any gathering or travel (which may or may not be the last day of the holiday break) or obtain a negative COVID test before returning to campus.
Additionally, In response to Governor Northam’s updated mandates related to the rising COVID-19 numbers, NOVA has revised our face covering policy to require face coverings be worn at all times when in our buildings, with the exception of employees working by themselves behind a closed door. The updated policy can be found here. And, please remember that a face shield worn without a face mask is not an acceptable face covering. Thank you for doing all you can to keep our community healthy!
In the spirit of full transparency, NOVA will continue to notify employees and students of on-campus COVID-19 positivity reports, including self-reports. The college has also created a webpage to track such reports.
For your own and others’ safety, please remain vigilant over the break and exercise all necessary precautions.
