OEMS Issues Important COVID-19 Refresher
The director and team members of the Office of Emergency Management and Safety would like to wish you a Happy New Year!
With the current situation regarding COVID-19, the Office of Emergency Management and Safety would like to take a few minutes to remind you of some of the guidance that is currently in place at NOVA. This is important information, so please take a moment to refresh your knowledge:
- If you are not feeling well, please stay home. The current College contagious diseases policy/procedure can be found Here. Share with your students that they should also remain at home if not feeling well.
- Maintain physical distancing from others. The CDC recommends at least six feet of distance from others. Information is available Here.
- Review the spring 2021 College “Return to NOVA” Plan. It can be found Here.
- Complete the GoCanvas Self-Health screening App daily before coming to campus. GoCanvas can be found in the Apple Store or Google Play. Instructions can be found Here. Your students should also download and use the GoCanvas App daily before coming to campus. Please remind them!
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and warm water. Hand sanitizer of at least 60% alcohol is acceptable if soap and water are not available. Additional information is located Here.
- Sanitize commonly touched or shared items often with provided wipes or cleaner. Especially before and after each use.
- Wear a face-covering. NOVA currently requires all faculty, staff and students to wear an appropriate face-covering while on NOVA property. The only exception is if you are in an office alone with the door closed. The college policy is available Here.
- It is voluntary but extremely helpful for you to report COVID-positive test results to NOVA at oem@nvcc.edu. Confidentiality will be protected, but this allows us to share potential exposure information with the College community. A list of potential exposures is available Here. Only positive test results need be reported.
- Review and adhere to classroom spacing and furniture arrangement. Assure students do not move furniture.
- Recommend remote student services to all students. Services are available Here.
- Send any questions to oem@nvcc.edu. Please review the college website for the most up-to-date information.
Stay safe, stay well and take care of one another.
