Today! Prof Breana Bayraktar to Present Hybrid Teaching Webinar

February 19, 2021 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

NOVA Online will offer a webinar to promote best practices in hybrid and online teaching. Professor Breana Bayraktar will share “Teaching Remotely at a Pandemic Time: Strategies for Student-Centered Learning in a Hybrid Remote and Online Format.” This event will be held Friday, Feb. 19, from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m. The webinar will focus on four strategies for promoting student-centered learning to help faculty reflect on the choices we make and how those choices impact our students.

Breana is an associate professor of English as a Second Language at NOVA’s Woodbridge Campus. She has taught adult English language learners and worked in curriculum development, assessment and teacher preparation for almost 20 years. She finds great joy in working with large and small groups of faculty members to help them think through questions about their teaching practices. Her research interests include faculty professional development, integrating reading and writing across the curriculum and exploring how small but meaningful instructional changes can impact student success and persistence. In addition to teaching, Professor Bayraktar is also an active presenter at professional conferences on teaching excellence including NOVA’s own PUP conference.
