It’s Starting to Look a Little Green! 2021 Green Festival Coming March 24
NOVA’s 2021 Green Festival is coming! This year’s theme is “RESTORE THE EARTH: A Discussion of the Interconnections and Relationships Between Humans and Natural Processes.” This year’s annual event is scheduled for 10 a.m. until 3 p.m., Wednesday, March 24, 2021, via Zoom.
The purpose of the festival is to increase both the college and local community awareness of regional, national and global environmental issues and provide information regarding ways that individuals can help preserve the environment. While the target audience is students, the event is free and open to the public.
The festival will be a combination of presentations, panel discussions, interactive demonstrations and informational displays. Ideally, it will help the audience to recognize ways they can conserve resources, promote change and make a difference as individuals.
This year’s event will feature a keynote from Dr. Wallace Nichols who will discuss the interaction and relationship between nature and people specifically as it relates to water and the oceans; a session featuring Ms. Nancy Chamberlain, currently a GMU professor and former NOVA professor, who will discuss Leave No Trace principles and a conservation ethic; and a session by Ms. Hala Elbarmil, the Greenhouse and Gardens Coordinator at GMU, who will discuss examples of restoration and natural connection in an urban setting.
