Benefit Deductions for Summer Months for 9-Month 18-Pay Faculty

Benefit deductions for 9-month faculty on the 18 pay cycle are not deducted during the summer. Therefore, per VCCS guidelines and to ensure continuation of benefits as well as the collection of premiums due for the summer months, premiums for both May and June will be collected in the 5/1-5/15 pay period for the May 14th pay date. These additional deductions will be processed for all 9-month faculty on the 18 pay cycle who are enrolled in Health Coverage, Optional Group Life Insurance, Legal Resources, Unum Long Term Disability and any other miscellaneous voluntary benefits. Premiums due for both July and August will be collected in the pay period 8/16-8/31 for the 9/1 pay date.

Important Notes:

  • Retirement contributions to include 403-b and 457 voluntary retirement savings plans are not withheld from summer pay.
  • Coding on paystubs for applicable benefit programs are as follows:
    • Health Care premiums: Pretax Hlth Care
    • Optional Group Life premiums: Optional Grp Life
    • UNUM LTD: Agy Specific Ded
    • Legal Resources and any other post-tax voluntary insurance benefits: Misc Insurance
