Green Tip Tuesday – “Upcycling”

Did you know that April 22nd is Earth Day? This year, the Earth Day Network’s theme is “Restore Our Earth.”

According to data from the Environmental Protection Agency, in 2018, 17 million tons of textile waste ended up in landfills making up 5.8 percent of the total municipal solid waste (MSW) generation that year. These textiles can take up to 200+ years to decompose in landfills (more information is Here).

One way to reduce the amount of textiles in landfills is to reuse and repurpose them into new things, often called “upcycling”.

Here are some ideas for do-it-yourself upcycling for that sweatshirt you’ve been holding on to:
