RNAG Update

April 21, 2021 / General NOVA News

The Return to NOVA Advisory Group met again on Wednesday, April 14. The following summarizes this meeting:

  • Campus-Based Events: The college is reviewing the possibility of hosting small internal and external events at some of our venues (such as Ernst Center, Manassas Amphitheater, etc). Any proposed events are being reviewed within the current Virginia requirements for gatherings as outlined in the Governor’s Executive Order. As we begin to re-open, NOVA will continue to monitor and learn from these limited events.
  • RNAG Initial Timeline:
    • May: The RNAG group will begin meeting with campus leaders in May to discuss office and classroom needs to ensure compliance with VDH, CDC, OSHA and DHRM standards. This information will establish the changes and controls that will begin the first week of June and be in place for the first return stage on June 21.
    • June: The RNAG communication plan will follow the above work, with the official Return to NOVA communication plan beginning in June. The campaign will include videos, updates in the Daily Flyer, NOVAnet (intranet), social media, campus TV screens, website updates, and emails.
  • Potential Vaccination Site: Local health officials have reviewed the Ernst Center at the Annandale Campus as a possible location for public vaccinations. If approved, NOVA would support by supplying tables/chairs and partitions as a community partner. NOVA would not be providing vaccinations, and all employees and students would have to register through existing online vaccination registration sites.
