The Language Lounge: Improve and Learn Language Skills, Find a Study Team
Join us for a Language Lounge session on Monday, April 26 at 4 p.m. Register Here.
What is the Language Lounge?
The Language Lounge is a platform for NOVA students, staff, faculty and the community to connect speakers of all languages who want to build skills in a different language that they are interested in learning. Being a native and or fluent speaker helps, but all levels are welcome. As part of the Unite the Nations By and For the People initiative, this exchange allows people to develop language skills and cultural competency (understanding). These two components—understanding language and culture—play an essential role in fostering peace, increasing prosperity for all, and uniting people to unite nations.
It’s Simple!
This friendly platform will help you to meet new people and to have language and cultural exchange learning sessions in pairs or bigger groups. For example, if you are seeking to learn Arabic and are fluent in English, there is another person fluent in Arabic who is seeking to learn English. You may find others taking the same language class who are looking for a study group or peer. Study & Learn Together!
*Availability of a language during these sessions will be based on attendance from participants who have knowledge of that language.
The Language Lounge is intended to be versatile to host sessions virtually and in-person. Through this process, participants should feel encouraged to consider taking NOVA language courses and engaging in other diverse activities that support a better understanding of languages, cultures, and bringing people together.
If you are enrolled in any language course (including English), ask your professor about extra credit opportunities for participating in these sessions.
