Update on 2019-20 APERs for Instructional Programs
Each year, academic programs conduct assessments of student learning and document these assessments in their Annual Planning and Evaluation Reports for Instructional Programs (see the 2019-20 report here). These reports are scored for completeness and quality, and points are awarded for addressing each of the components in the four sections of the report: (1) SLOs, CLO, Program Goals; (2) Assessment Methods; (3) Assessment Results; and (4) Use of Results. The 2019-2020 Annual Planning and Evaluation Report (APER) for Instructional Programs’ rubric scores increased by 2.4 percentage points overall, and scores for the four sections of the report increased, as well. The area that demonstrated the most improvement was the “Use of Results” section, which increased by 5.6 percentage points from the previous year. This increase indicates that academic programs are regularly using assessment results to make improvements and reporting on the actions that they are taking to enhance student learning and success. Approximately 90% of programs had rubric scores that met expectations (scoring in the 90-100% range), with another 9% mostly meeting expectations (80-89%).
