RNAG Update

May 12, 2021 / General NOVA News

The Return to NOVA Advisory Group met again this week. The following summarizes key points from the meeting:

  • Possible Manassas Campus Vaccine Site: OEMS and Facilities are currently reviewing a possible collaboration with the Prince William County Health Department to open a one-day vaccine site at the Manassas Campus in late May.
  • Changing Public Health Guidance: RNAG continues to monitor public health guidance from the CDC/VDH/OSHA/DHRM. As the number of individuals vaccinated continues to grow and COVID cases continue to fall, this guidance is changing much more frequently. You are encouraged to monitor both the Daily Flyer and the Weekly Operations email for updates, and to look for updated information that might come from Human Resources, Provosts, Deans, and Directors. RNAG anticipates that changes in public health guidance will only accelerate more throughout the summer.
  • Vaccination Videos: NOVA’s social media account has been featuring short videos from students in which they respond to the question: “Why did I get the vaccine?” These have been published via our Instagram stories and remain there for 24 hours. The social media team is now compiling the videos for use on our website. If you have a 30-second video you’d like to share about why you chose to get vaccinated, please submit it to Alisa Berry at socialmedia@nvcc.edu.
  • Campus Meetings: Meetings and zooms are in progress for departments, divisions, and administrative offices to continue any required onsite walk-throughs and assessments.

Class Schedules: Just a reminder that the RNAG does not make decisions on class schedules or teaching modalities. Provosts and Deans are scheduling fall classroom capacity based on expectations that social distancing measures will be significantly reduced before fall and are working with faculty on teaching modalities and any required professional development. All classes are being scheduled with the knowledge that NOVA may need to pivot back to remote instruction for periods of time if local conditions dictate doing so.
