FLUID Is Coming

May 18, 2021 / General NOVA News

In the last week or so, many of you received an email from Matthew Fitzgerald regarding the FLUID project. Below is some more information you may find helpful. More information will be shared with you as it becomes available from VCCS.

In late May, VCCS will introduce ‘FLUID,’ a new look and feel to the 9.2 Student Information System (SIS). This new user interface allows for a more responsive and mobile-friendly SIS experience. Navigating through the system will be slightly different and includes new terminology like Homepages, Tiles, Navigation Bar, Navigation Collections, etc. Users will log in to SIS as usual using the myVCCS portal. Clicking the SIS Tile will bring you to your FLUID Homepage.

Fluid Homepages are role-based and help organize key parts of the SIS system. Various business processes can be represented by Tiles, which provide quick access to all of the pages or links needed to complete a process. The option of returning to ‘Classic Home’ is also available using a tile (below) or Nav Bar.

Below is an example of the new staff and faculty view in SIS.

There are weekly FLUID demonstration/training sessions leading up to the end of May and beyond. All sessions will be identical and will include an overview of FLUID for all user groups with time for questions and comments. Registration is not required, and the day, time and Zoom links are listed below. Each session includes a Q&A and will be recorded and made available afterwards.
