Coming July 1: Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back (G3) at NOVA
As part of Governor Northam’s “Get Skilled, Get a Job, Give Back” (G3) initiative, many NOVA students may qualify for last-dollar financial assistance beginning July 1.
For eligible students pursuing AAS, CERT, or CSC credit-based programs, G3 funding will be available for the fall 2021 semester. For eligible students pursuing Fast Forward training via NOVA Workforce, G3 funding becomes available this summer for programs beginning July 1 or later. A full list of eligible programs is listed on the G3 Webpage (www.nvcc.edu/G3).
Students who were previously funded by the REV (Re-Employing Virginians) program, but have exhausted their allotted REV aid, may be eligible for G3 and should reach out to G3 advising G3@nvcc.edu for assistance.
To access G3 funding, students must meet several criteria related to residency, income level, enrollment in an approved program, and completion of applicable financial aid applications. A detailed explanation of eligibility requirements can be found on the website (www.nvcc.edu/G3).
Many of the G3 certificates and degrees are “stackable,” meaning programs start with quick skills training leading to a certificate with immediate value in the job market. If a credential or certificate is part of a larger associate degree, a student can begin working in their field (making money!) while continuing to take courses toward finishing the degree.
Questions regarding G3 eligibility and programs can be directed to G3@nvcc.edu.
