NOVA Welcomes New Title IX Coordinator

We are pleased to announce Lauren Jones McKown, who will join the Division of Student Services as the new Title IX Coordinator. Lauren will oversee NOVA’s efforts to ensure compliance with Title IX civil rights law prohibiting discrimination on the basis of sex in educational programs, activities, admission and employment.

In 2016, Lauren accepted the position as director of equal opportunity and diversity at Texas A&M International University in Laredo, Texas, where she was quickly promoted to director of compliance. In 2018, Lauren relocated to Columbus, Ga. and was a dual report to both Legal Affairs and Student Affairs as the Title IX compliance coordinator and director for the Center of Accommodation and Access. Lauren remains a member in good standing of the Massachusetts Bar.

Lauren is originally from Kansas, where she earned her bachelor’s degree in Film Studies and master’s degree in Higher Education Administration from the University of Kansas. After earning her master’s degree, Lauren attended New England School of Law in Boston where she earned her juris doctor degree as a member of the evening division. While in law school, Lauren clerked at Helman & Neustadt and remained active as an alumnae advisor for sororities in the Boston area. Lauren joined Foley & MacAdie, P.C. after law school practicing family law and working closely with victims of domestic violence. Lauren enjoys baking, loves to travel and keeps busy chasing after her one-year-old son, Declan, and four-and-a-half-year-old Jack Russell puppy, Jax.
