ACLS Spotlights NOVA Prof. for Study of LGBTQ+ Identities in Hindu Mythology
NOVA English Professor Meena Nayak has been featured by the American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) for her work examining LGBTQ+ identities in ancient Hindu mythology.
Nayak says that her inquisitive students were the inspiration behind her research, which began in earnest in fall 2018 when she was working on her book, Blue Lotus: Myths and Folktales of India.
In 2019 Nayak received a Mellon/ACLS Community College Faculty Fellowship, which provided helpful resources for her research. She is now working on a book based on that research called “The Third Color in Indra’s Bow.”
