White House, Presidential Volunteer Opportunity for Students!

July 6, 2021 / General NOVA News

The Office of Presidential Correspondence (OPC) is currently accepting applications for their remote student volunteer program. Remote student volunteers gain professional experience while also getting unique insight into the Executive Office of the President. This is of course an exceptional opportunity for our students. Please share and encourage students within your reach to apply by the July 12 deadline.

Every day, OPC responds to the thousands of letters and e-mails that President Joe Biden receives. The core mission of OPC is to listen to the American people, understand their stories and concerns and respond to their messages on behalf of the President. In fulfilling this mission, OPC plays an integral role in ensuring the Biden Administration hears from the American people and responds to their needs.

Remote student volunteers are assigned to one of the departments in OPC, which may include:

  • Mail Analysis – reads email correspondence on various policy issues and data enters digitized physical mail;
  • Agency Liaison – works with federal agencies to facilitate a resolution to requests for assistance;
  • Greetings – sends well wishes from the President to Americans celebrating a special milestone.

Remote student volunteers should commit to volunteering 20 hours per week, and the hours can be flexible to accommodate other work or education responsibilities.

Interested in applying? Applicants must be:

  • U.S. citizens
  • At least 18 years of age
  • Committed to public service
  • Currently enrolled in a degree-seeking program

Students should email their resume and a 300-word statement of interest to OPCstudentvolunteer@who.eop.gov by July 12, 2021.
