LiveSafe Replaces GoCanvas as Health Screening App
NOVA’s contract for the GoCanvas health screening app is scheduled to expire in July. RNAG has created an equivalent health screening service in the LiveSafe application. Instructions for downloading and using LiveSafe are provided below.
Introduction: What is LiveSafe?
- LiveSafe is a free personal safety mobile app that empowers students, parents and friends, and the entire campus community to keep themselves and the NOVA Community safe.
- LiveSafe also allows you a means to provide your health status by answering three quick questions, thereby helping to keep the NOVA community safe.
- LiveSafe also provides a fast and easy way to contact the police, discreetly provide crime tips and safety information, allows your emergency contacts to virtually escort you, and allows you access to potentially life-saving information. (see: nvcc.edu/police/livesafe.html).
Steps to Download LiveSafe
- Find the free application for download on the iTunes or Google Play Store or at the above website.
- Once you have downloaded the app, select NOVA’s name within the Organization.
- Fill out all fields under the user profile, and add emergency contacts.
Fill Out Your Health Information
- Once you have downloaded the LiveSafe app:
- Open the app and click on the Daily Health Survey
- Click on your Affiliation (student, faculty, staff or contractor) from the drop-down menu
- Click on the Location you are Visiting Today (one of the six campuses, Pitney Bowes, Fairfax (Pender), Reston or Signal Hill) from the drop-down menu
- Select Today’s Date (click on the calendar and select today’s date. It will populate the app automatically.)
- Answer “Yes” or “No” to three questions about any COVID-related symptoms you have had in the last 24 hours:
- Coughing or shortness of breath or difficulty breathing,
- Or, at least two of these symptoms (fever, chills, repeated shaking with chills, muscle pain, headache, sore throat),
- If you have had contact with a person known to be infected with Coronavirus (SARS-CoV-19) in the past 14 days.
- Certify your responses by hitting the “submit” button.
- If you answered “No” to the three questions, you will see a green check mark and told you may come to NOVA.
- If you have answered “Yes” to any of the three symptoms above, you will receive a red X in a circle and told you are NOT CLREARED to visit NOVA. It directs those not cleared to visit NOVA to contact their supervisor and HR, their instructor, or the NOVA supervisor and company depending on whether you are an employee, student or contractor respectively.
