Who’s Who and What Do They Do?

July 8, 2021 / General NOVA News

After 16 months working off site and many staff changes within departments, we are now preparing to return to campuses and leased spaces throughout the Northern Virginia region. Even before our COVID ‘interruption,’ many of us would have been hard pressed to visually identify people we have worked with, sometimes even for years! We talk on the phone and by email, but often, we really would not know our colleagues by sight. But knowing our co-workers makes us more productive, and it helps us feel like more of a community. To that end, the Daily Flyer will be running a series of brief departmental profiles to introduce our various programs and departments and all the many people who “make it happen” here at NOVA. It is our hope that this will help us get to know our colleagues better.

The Daily Flyer will be reaching out to departments in the coming weeks and months to request information. But, please don’t wait. Feel free to start compiling information on your department and send it along to dailyflyer@nvcc.edu. Also, we would like to publish a photo of each person within the department and/or a group photo of your team with individuals identified.

Here are some details to include on each person to help guide your responses for your department:

  • What is your title?
  • What do you spend most of your day doing?
  • How long have you been at NOVA?
  • Have you been in other college positions before this one? What were they?
  • What is your favorite thing about your current job?
  • What is one fun fact about you that you would like to share?

As we begin gathering together on campuses again, let’s spend some time getting to know one another by more than just a name.
