Dr. Richmond Hill Returns to NOVA as AVP of Student Support
Please join me in welcoming Dr. Richmond Hill back to NOVA! Richmond will be joining the Division of Student Services as associate vice-president of student support effective July12. Among the areas he will oversee are Access and Accommodations, Title IX, Office of Wellness and Mental Health and Financial Stability and Advocacy. Richmond has been a Northern Virginia resident for twenty years. He was previously employed by Prince William County Public Schools where he served as supervisor of secondary counseling and student support services.
Richmond’s passion for mental health and student success has been his driving force throughout his career. Early in his career he held roles as a school counselor, director of school counseling, and GED program administrator. Upon transitioning to his work in higher education, he served as a counselor, high school outreach coordinator, retention counselor, and coordinator of student success at NOVA. Over his 20-year career, Richmond has developed and implemented several successful mentoring and leadership development programs designed to foster the personal, social and academic development of boys and men of color. Richmond is a transformational leader, consultant, trainer and researcher in the areas of diversity, mental health, teacher evaluation, student retention and educational access. He continues to make tremendous contributions to his community through volunteerism and service at his church and through fraternal, civic and professional organizations. He earned his bachelor’s in psychology and master’s in counselor education from North Carolina State University. He earned his doctoral degree in higher education administration from The George Washington University.
