Barbara Hopkins Named Interim AVP for Academic Affairs
The Office of the Vice President for Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer is pleased to announce that Barbara Hopkins, director of curriculum development, has agreed to serve as the interim associate vice president (AVP) for academic affairs. Throughout her 16 years as a member of the NOVA community, Barbara has served as an adjunct faculty member, program head, assistant dean, associate dean and interim academic dean. She has been heavily involved with several major initiatives, including the development of transfer pathways, revisions to our General Education curriculum, the Equity Transfer Initiative grant, Transfer Virginia and the ADVANCE program. Additionally, Barbara has helped improve the communication of our academic policies and curricular initiatives and collaborates well with stakeholders throughout the College. She will serve in both the AVP role as well as her current Director role until a permanent AVP for Academic Affairs is hired. The permanent AVP is anticipated to start in January 2022.
