NEW! Crisis Protocol for Connecting Students with Emergency Personnel
Recognizing the need for clear, actionable steps for assisting students experiencing a medical or mental health crisis, the Office of Wellness and Mental Health and NOVA Police have developed a protocol for staff and faculty to use to expedite the process of connecting students with professional emergency personnel. This protocol was also shaped out of recognition of the varying levels of comfort in responding during a crisis; through staff and faculty cooperation and utilization, we can address the anxiety of the student and the helper and connect students with capable, professional assistance quickly. The Crisis Protocol can be found on NOVANet, as well as the Office of Wellness and Mental Health home page.
Thank you for your dedication to our students and to supporting their needs that often fall outside of the scope of the classroom! Please reach out to The Office of Wellness and Mental Health with any questions at wellness@nvcc.edu.
