LO Interim MSTB Dean Vashti Bryant to Depart; Assoc. Dean Laura Jacyna to Step In

July 29, 2021 / Faculty/Staff Highlights

Earlier this summer the Loudoun Campus congratulated former Loudoun MSTB Dean Barbara Canfield as she left NOVA to become    provost of a college in New York. Today I write to congratulate our current Interim MSTB Dean, Dr. Vashti Bryant, who has accepted an academic dean position at North Seattle College, beginning Sept. 3. These appointments are a testament to the quality of our NOVA academic deans and associate deans. Although her departure is a loss to both the Loudoun and Manassas campuses where she has served as associate dean, we congratulate Dr. Bryant and will miss her here at NOVA.

The start date of Dr. Bryant’s new position will prevent her from completing the interim dean assignment at the Loudoun Campus. She will be staying on at Loudoun until Friday, August 13 and will be on leave after that.

Fortunately, Associate Dean Laura Jacyna will be able to step in as interim MSTB dean beginning on August 16. As many of you know, Associate Dean Jacyna has served Loudoun as an Acting Dean several times in the past and this is expected to be a smooth transition and her experienced, steady hand will guide the MSTB Division as they move to hire a new dean. The permanent MSTB Dean position will be posted in early in August.
